A Quick Update

First, I want to thank everyone who has posted encouraging comments, sent emails, and messaged me on the Disney Infinity reddit and discord. I appreciate your support!

I really needed this break. I had no idea how burnt out I had become. Maintaining an average schedule of 3 videos per week for nearly 4 years takes its toll. A lot of work goes into each and every video.

It starts with the toy box. Most people have no idea how much planning and effort it takes for me to design and build a single toy box. It usually takes a week or two of experimenting with new game and mission ideas to figure out how to do the logic for what I want to do. Then I pick a setting or theme that best fits the game, preferably one I haven’t done before. This is followed by some research on that setting, which consists of gathering screenshots and maps from movies and TV shows of the locations I want. After that, I spend several weeks (sometimes a month or more) building and rebuilding the toy box, trying to recreate the world I want that will fit inside the memory limits and still leave room for the logic. This is all work that goes on behind-the-scenes that happens before I ever make a video of it.

Once I have the toy box, then it’s time to do the videos. That starts with some planning to figure out what I’m going to try to do in each 30-minute long video. Sometimes I have logos I create for the series, and a preview trailer filled with short video clips and set to music (which takes time to find). Then I put together a script for each video, record it, edit it, render it, and upload it. If it is a logic video, I usually create diagrams to go with it. That takes additional time. Again, a lot of this work is stuff that no one ever sees. They just see the final video.

And, of course, at the same time I’m recording videos for one toy box, I’m also working on the next toy box.

Needless to say, after 4 straight years of doing all of that, I’m tired!

This has turned into a longer break than usual, but I will return in a couple of weeks to finish up my Disneyland series. You can see a little preview of the new Toad Hall in the screen capture above. I will probably only do 1-2 videos per week to start out with, but I will finish Disneyland as promised.

I’ve also got a video for my 4-year anniversary that I will be airing on May 13. I’ve already put that video together, and it is ready to go.

After that, we’ll see. I have been working on 2 new toy boxes. One is nearly finished. The other is in the process of being rebuilt to try to fit within the memory limits. I would definitely like to share these creations, but it might take longer to produce these series if I’m only doing 1-2 videos per week. I’ll keep you updated.

Thank you for your patience!

Hey professor. I totally understand getting burnt out. I’ve taken a break from Disney Infinity myself and I don’t even create and share on YouTube or any other platform. Take all the time you need. It’s always a pleasure seeing a new video post from you. Until the next time, continue taking care of yourself.
