Saturday Steal – Finding Dory Play Set for Disney Infinity 3.0

Amazon currently has the Disney Infinity 3.0 Finding Dory Play Set for only $9.86 USD – I think that’s a great deal (considering it was originally $30 USD)! I don’t know how long this deal will last; prices can change pretty quickly. So if you don’t already own this play set, this is a great time to add it to your collection!

Finding Dory was the last play set to be released before Disney Infinity was canceled, and although it was meant to be the next play set in a long line of many future play sets, I think it was a fine finale. The scenery is beautiful, and looks almost as good as the original Pixar movie. The play set includes the game piece and a figure of Dory. The Nemo figure is sold separately (Amazon currently has him for $9.99 USD), but he can be used with this play set as well.

The play set is a sequel to the Finding Dory movie. Dory and friends return to MLI to rescue the fish after the institute was flooded. The game consists of a variety of 2D levels and 3D areas to explore as you attempt to rescue as many fish as you can.

My favorite levels were the stealth levels, where you must sneak through various aquariums while avoiding the night watchmen. If you’re caught in the glow of their flashlights, you’re put into quarantine (essentially killing you), so you have to hide in the shadows and behind the algae when the watchmen come around. This can be difficult to do when you’re being hunted by the plastic, souvenir toy fish that fell into the tanks.

There are also lots of mechanical and aquatic puzzles to solve. Most of these were pretty easy, so they’re suitable for kids, but one or two really made me stop and think. The puzzles involve manipulating various gears to swim through, pumps that control water currents, and valves that open and close other pipes.

In between levels, you can explore Morro Bay, where the rescued fish are brought. Your time here is spent in typical Disney Infinity play set activities, like building a community for the fish, going on side quests, talking with various characters, and finding hidden secrets.

Placing the play set piece on the Disney Infinity base while in the toy box will unlock many wonderful, new toys that you can use to build your own underwater adventures. These include a wide variety of sponge, seaweed, and anemone decorations, plus 2 sky boxes, terrain textures, some building set pieces from the game, the plastic fish enemies, the breakable shells and barnacles, and a new sand dollar collectible. I’ve built a new coral reef toy box with these toys, and I’ll show it to you in Monday’s video. For now, here’s a sneak peek to show you a sample of what you can build:

If you don’t own this play set, this is a good time to get it. You’ll get some great new content for your game, and your purchase will also help support me and my blog.

Have a great weekend!
